Four middle innings of an offensive outpour lifted the Cowboys to a series victory against Big 12-newcomer BYU on Friday afternoon.
The No. 19 Cowboys defeated the Cougars 11-5 at O’Brate Stadium, capturing Game 1 of the twin bill for a series-clinching win. OSU improved to 29-14 overall and 13-7 in Big 12 play, while BYU fell to 16-23 overall and 6-17 in Big 12 play.
The Cowboys found themselves down 1-0 early after BYU catcher Collin Reueter launched a hanging slider from OSU southpaw starter, Sam Garcia over the left field wall for a solo home run in the top of the first.
