Three takeaways from UVA baseball’s series loss to No. 23 NC State

At one point or another, the Virginia Cavaliers led in all three games of the series with NC State. Jacob Ference’s three-run homerun in game one put the ‘Hoos in front, 3-1. State’s scoring came in twos in the fifth, seventh, and eighth innings and Virginia’s lineup couldn’t keep pace.

Nate Savino, Griff O’Ferrall, and Casey Sauke starred in the middle game alongside Henry Ford whose fifth inning, two-run bomb shattered Mark Reynolds’ 2002 freshman homerun mark.

It was a 4-3 lead for Virginia exiting the second inning in game three, but NC State would go on to score 10 of the next 11 runs and bury the ‘Hoos in game three.
